Is it real rust, or a rust-effect paint?
Real rust. Porter's Liquid Iron suspends genuine iron particles in the coating, and the patina comes from actual oxidation triggered with an activator. That's why the colour has the depth, variation and warmth of weathered steel — no printed or painted effect can replicate real chemistry.
Will the rust keep spreading or stain my floor?
No — that's the point of the sealing step. Once you approve the patina, we stop the reaction and seal the surface, locking the finish in place. Unlike real corten steel, a sealed Liquid Iron wall doesn't bleed rust onto paths, decks or carpet.
Can I choose how rusty it looks?
Yes — that's the craft. From a light, even blush of oxidation through to deep, dramatic corten-style mottling, the patina is developed by hand and stopped exactly where you want it. We rust up samples first so you approve the look before we touch the wall.
Does it work outside and in bathrooms?
Yes — sealed appropriately, Liquid Iron performs indoors and out: entrance walls, courtyard features, pillars and exterior panels, as well as powder rooms and bathrooms outside direct water contact. We spec the sealing system for each location.
